Eligibility Criteria – SSC Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026

⇒ Nationality: Indian Citizen / Subject of Nepal or Bhutan / Person of Indian Origin who has migrated from specified countries with intention of permanent settlement (with eligibility certificate from Government of India)

⇒ For Post Codes A, B, C (Junior Hindi Translator / Junior Translation Officer / Junior Translator):

  • Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium at Degree level; OR
  • Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at Degree level; OR
  • Master’s degree in any other subject with Hindi medium and English as compulsory/elective or vice versa at Degree level; OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with both Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects at Degree level

AND

  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa; OR
  • Two years’ experience of translation work (Hindi ↔ English) in a Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertakings

⇒ For Post Code D (Senior Hindi Translator / Senior Translator / Senior Translation Officer):

  • Same Master’s degree qualifications as mentioned above for Post Codes A, B, C

  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa; OR

Note: In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates are also entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other admissible Central Government benefits as per applicable rules. How to Apply – Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
Visit https://ssc.gov.in and click “Login or Register”. If you have not already registered on the new SSC website, complete your One-Time Registration (OTR). Note: OTR from the old website (ssc.nic.in) is NOT valid for the new portal.

Step 2: Aadhaar Authentication (Recommended)
Opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR to avoid photograph/signature rejection issues. If Aadhaar is not available, upload prescribed documents for Name, Date of Birth, Address, Gender, and Photograph.
