Eligibility Criteria — Indian Army TES-56

⇒ Nationality:

  • Indian Citizen, OR
  • Subject of Nepal, OR
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India (Eligibility Certificate from Government of India required; not needed for Gorkha subjects of Nepal)

⇒ Marital Status: Unmarried Male only. Candidates must give an undertaking to not marry until they complete full training. Marriage after applying (even if selected) will disqualify a candidate from training. Marriage during training will result in discharge and recovery of all training costs.

⇒ Educational Qualification:

  • Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects
  • Minimum 60% aggregate marks in PCM (calculated from Class XII marks only; based on marks scored in respective State/Central Board)
  • PCM percentage must be entered up to two decimal places — no rounding off is permitted
  • Must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026 — mandatory for all applicants
  • JEE Mains 2026 Application Number (for B.E./B.Tech) must be filled in the online application

  • Candidate must not have been debarred by UPSC from appearing in any examination
  • Candidate must not have been arrested, convicted by a criminal court, or involved in any court case

  • On successful completion of all 4 years, cadets are awarded an Engineering Degree and granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.
  • No ante-date seniority is admissible to candidates on account of this Engineering degree.

Selection Process — Detailed Overview

Stage 1: Shortlisting

  • Applications will be shortlisted based on JEE (Mains) 2026 Common Rank List (CRL).
  • Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to fix cut-off without assigning any reason.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email with SSB centre allocation and date.
  • Cut-off percentage will be published tentatively in the first week of July 2026.
  • All incomplete applications will be rejected outright — no intimation will be given.

Stage 2: SSB Interview (5 Days)

  • SSB Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Jalandhar (Punjab)
  • Call-up letter issued by respective Selection Centres on candidate’s registered Email ID and SMS only.
  • Two-stage process: Candidates clearing Stage-I proceed to Stage-II; those failing Stage-I are returned the same day.
  • Stage-II is evaluated by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and Interviewing Officer.
  • SSB centre allocation is at the sole discretion of the Directorate General of Recruiting — no change requests entertained.
  • No compensation is paid for any injury sustained during SSB tests.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

  • Candidates recommended by SSB will undergo a medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital.
  • Candidates should have no objection to examination by a board of Male/Female doctors.
  • Medical Board proceedings are confidential and will not be divulged. DG Recruiting has no role in Medical Boards.
  • Candidates applying for both TES and NDA in parallel: Refer to the official notification for detailed medical examination procedure applicable for common candidates.

Stage 4: Merit List & Joining Letter

  • Merit list is prepared solely on the basis of SSB marks — higher educational qualifications, previous performances, NCC background, etc. have NO role in merit finalization.
  • Joining Letters are issued based on merit and vacancies available — passing SSB does NOT confirm final selection.
  • Candidates must report to the allotted CTW within 7 days of the reporting date; failure to report will result in cancellation of candidature and the next candidate in merit will be upgraded.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Check Eligibility
Before starting, confirm you are an unmarried male, born between 01 July 2007 and 01 July 2010 (inclusive), have scored at least 60% aggregate in PCM in Class 12th, and have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2026.

Step 2: Visit Official Indian Army Recruitment Website
Go to www.joinindianarmy.nic.in and click on the “Online Application” button. Online applications open on 13 May 2026 at 1200 Hrs.

Step 3: Register & Fill Online Application
Enter all required personal, educational, and JEE Mains 2026 details carefully. Enter PCM percentage up to two decimal places — do not round off. Read all terms and conditions linked to the form before submitting.

Step 4: Edit if Required (Before Closing)
You may make changes to your application any number of times before the closing date and time. Each time you open the application for editing, you must click “Submit” again. No changes will be allowed after the application window closes on 12 June 2026 at 1200 Hrs.

Step 5: Submit Final Application
After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation dialog box. Only submit ONE application — multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.

Step 6: Download & Print Application
The printout with Roll Number will be available 30 minutes after the closing of online applications. Print two copies: one to be carried to the SSB Centre (self-attested), and one for personal reference. No hard copy needs to be sent to the Directorate General of Recruiting.

Step 7: Await Shortlisting Notification
After shortlisting (based on JEE Mains 2026 CRL), you will receive an email with your SSB Centre allocation and date. Log in to the website to select your SSB Centre and preferred date on a first-come-first-served basis. Once selected, SSB Centre and date cannot be changed.

Step 8: Attend SSB, Medical & Await Merit List
